A labourer once passed by the Prophet who was seated with his Companions. Those present commented that if his toil had been in God's cause, it would have been better for him. The Prophet , however, corrected them, saying: "If his efforts are geared towards supporting his children, he is still working in God's cause. The same holds true if his objective is to provide sustenance for his parents. Even if his striving aims at earning some income that would save him from begging from others, then he is working in God's way. It is only if his motive is to make a show of his wealth, then he is following in Satan's footsteps." (B)
